If you've never hired a professional cleaner before, it's natural to wonder exactly what you're getting. What gets cleaned? What gets skipped? What's the difference between what they do and what you'd do yourself?
Here's a clear breakdown of what a professional standard cleaning includes — and what's typically outside the scope of a regular visit.
What's included in a standard house cleaning
Kitchen
Countertops, stovetop exterior, sink and faucets, appliance exteriors (fridge, microwave, dishwasher), cabinet door fronts, floors vacuumed and mopped.
Bathrooms
Toilet (seat, bowl, lid, base), sink and vanity, shower and bathtub surfaces, mirrors, floors mopped, towels arranged.
Bedrooms
Surfaces and nightstands dusted, mirrors cleaned, beds made (linens changed if left out), floors vacuumed and/or mopped.
Living and dining areas
Surfaces dusted, cushions fluffed, floors vacuumed and mopped, glass and mirrors cleaned.
General
Bins emptied throughout, high surfaces dusted, light switches wiped.
What's NOT included in a standard clean
Standard cleaning maintains a home that's already reasonably cared for. It typically does not include:
- Inside appliances (oven interior, fridge interior, dishwasher interior)
- Inside cabinets or drawers
- Baseboards, door frames, and window sills (scrubbed)
- Laundry and dishes
- Heavy organizing or decluttering
- Exterior windows
These tasks are part of a deep cleaning service.
How do I know what I need?
The easiest way to figure out the right service is to simply ask. When you request a free quote, tell us about your home and what you're looking for — we'll recommend the right service and explain exactly what it covers.
We're always happy to customize our cleaning to your specific priorities. Some clients want us to focus on bathrooms and kitchen; others want a systematic room-by-room approach. Your home, your call.
